Every catalyst necessitates a metal substrate with specific specifications, including:

- Alignment with catalytic substrate specifications, including dimensions, CPSI (Cells Per Square Inch), pressure tolerance, etc.
- Alignment with catalytic converter specifications, including placement and type of canning
